The more technical term, costume, has become so linked in the public eye with the term "fashion" that the more general term "costume" has in popular use mostly been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while the term "fashion" means clothing generally, and the study of it. This linguistic switch is due to the fashion plates which were produced during the Industrial Revolution, showing the latest designs. Let's see...1990 I was 11 years old. I know starting around that time, the big craze was tight rolling the bottom of your jeans. I did that all the way until I graduated in 1997, lol. Also, wearing vests was cool in mid 90's. Every girl in my school had bangs curls under and took the sides of your hair and put it up in a barrette on top of your head. I think people still do that now. Oh...I know it was cool for guys and I think this was around 1994 on up would shave the back of their head but leave the hair on top long. So they would put it in a pony tail but you could see the shaved back part. Not sure with shoes...Nike's will always be in, lol. But that's what I can remember the most!
