What do pulling pieces of metal out with pieces of your wisdom tooth in a dream mean?
Q. I've had the pulling teeth dream many times before, and have come to recognize it as a warning that I'm going about something all wrong and need to change either my approach or direction entirely. But this dream only my back right top wisdom tooth was filled with pieces of wire which i pulled with no pain or blood just a little soreness, along with pieces of the tooth. I'm stuck on what this means!

A. This dream suggests that you are not acting wisely about something in your life. A better way to put this is that you are allowing outside influences to undermine your own intuitive impulses.

How many pieces of tissue paper are there in a package?
Q. I know it depends. But I was just thinking right know of making packages of tissue paper to sell with Christmas designs for Christmas. For example, how many pieces should I put in a packages to sell for a dollar, two dollars? How many pieces come in the packages they sell at the dollar store. Random though I had right now. Thanks! Map of the world? That sounds cool!!! No, I just bought tissue paper in bulk with Christmas designs. I think a variety of 10 for a dollar should be good?

A. the dollar store has a package of 40. the printed patterns that they sell come in a small quantity, not sure how many sheets. specialty sheets sell for about 6-8sheets/$3 at craft stores or hallmark. hallmark also (at least used to) sell single sheets in solids or patterns for about 40-50 cents each. specialty sheet meaning, a solid or a pattern, possibly even a bit of shiny something. but nothing too intricate. obviously if you're putting time into something you could probably sell it for more. are you decorating tissue you would be buying from the store? it might be hard to decorate and repackage without wrinkling/and or creasing. there are also stores out there that sell really fancy tissue. these can be thicker, have really fancy… [cont.]

What pieces for piano would make good audition pieces for universities?
Q. I play piano, and I love music. I would like to study music and university and I will be applying this october/november. I think my auditions will be between november, through to early 2010. Some places ask for two contrasting pieces, and others for three contrasting pieces. If there are any pieces that you could recommend, or if you have experience of adjudicating auditions in the past and have any advice, please submit an answer! Thank you in advance! :)

How do I compose pieces like the Avatar soundtracks?
Q. I have Sibelius 6, and I really want to be able to compose pieces in the same sort of style as the pieces by James Horner as used in the film Avatar. What instruments are used? Any tips for how I could start? Any common chord sequences or anything? Thanks it would mean so much to me!
Asked by Emma - Sat Mar 20 08:16:45 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. you'll need a good starters book on music composition. there are many great ones out there, check your local book stores and music stores. i would say string and horn instruments would be the most important, like epic orchestral sounds. what i do is get an electric keyboard, and just diddle around on the strings-setting and come up with melodies. then i remember/record them and just go from there, adding bass parts and sub-melodies. to be honest, the only way to do it is to do it! (: so just go for it and try your best, and im sure you will compose some fine pieces.

Q. My hair is long and average in thickness. I miss my thick hair when I was younger and now it's average and very flat wo the volume. I'm planning to try dream catchers hair extensions for a couple of months to add thickness. I don't want it to be too thick that it looks fake. My hair is long up to my mid-lower back. How many pieces of candy are appropriate to give to each child on Halloween for trick or treats?
Q. I am on a pretty tight budget but want to participate when the (literally) -bus loads of kids come to our neighborhood to trick or treat. I usually give 6-10 pieces per child but since I am on a budget and my new neighborhood has so many kids coming for Halloween I need a little advice. This will be our first Halloween in this neighborhood. We never had many people come for trick or treats especially since I have either lived in the country or an apartment for most of my life. Thanks. Leah

A. if peopel are giving chocolates they usually give one piece. Personally, I give one chocolate (like a mini snickers or m&m bag) with a lollypop and a gumball. that way they get a little of everything. If you're on a budget but dont want to seem stingy I would give out a prize. Like a pencil or a halloween eraser. Or tattoos...I saw a bag of tiny tattoo boxes. You could get away with giving only one of those away since it's a toy not candy. They're fairly cheap at walmart. Thanks for not turning off your lights and pretending you're not home :)

What chess board material matches with ebony pieces?
Q. I recently purchased a chess set from House of Staunton. The pieces are made of ebony (black) and boxwood (white). I'm having a tough time figuring out what type of wood will look good with the pieces. Do I want an ebony board as well so both the board and pieces will be black and white? Will a walnut and maple board look okay? Thanks!
Asked by Matt - Wed Jun 3 01:07:48 2009 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments
A. IMO, walnut and maple isn't the best combination for your set. Ebony boards would work well, but if your board matches your set exactly, sometimes the pieces get "lost" on the board.. I bought a ebony & boxwood set from House of Staunton years ago. The board I bought to go with the set was a folding board that looked like this one: It goes well with the chessmen, and pieces never get "lost" (which is important when calculating!). House of Staunton makes excellent chess equipment for the price, so I'm sure you'll enjoy your set.

How many possible combinations can pieces have on a chessboard?
Q. Given the fact that all chess pieces are there, some of them, are there, few of them are there, or two kings are left. Can we use pieces of broken concrete to raise a space before paving it with pavers??
Q. we have a large space in our backyard that we are paving. it is too low right now and was want to raise it about 18 inches total, including the finishing pavers. is it ok to raise this by filling it with large pieces of concrete? (about 8X8 inches wide by 4 inches thick) we are planning on leaving 5 inches of space to add gravel and then sand on top of it before the pavers. thanks for the input julie

A. Yes, it's done all the time. Just don't leave any air under the concrete. I usually just take the end of my shovel handle and tamp down the dirt really tight around the concrete, it's a bit time consuming but it's cheaper and more effective than a roller filled with water.

What kind of dog food has the largest pieces?
Q. So our dog eats his food crazy fast. And he doesn't like to chew it, he just swallows it. So we are looking for big pieces that he has to chew. The biggest I've found so far is Science Diet large breed dog food. They are sphere pieces that are maybe like 3/4 of an inch diameter. He chews maybe half and swallows the rest. It's definitely better than before, but still not great. Is there a dog food that has really big pieces so dogs have to chew it? Thanks.

A. Hi... :) At the moment I can only think of Royal Canin that has the really large pieces (breed depending though) after that would probably be what you are already feeding. If he swallows really big pieces it could be a chocking hazard though. Are you feeding him enough and more then one meal a day? Have you tried the dog bowls with pegs in them (to slow dogs eating down)? You may also want to think about switching him to a high quality food like Merrick (which you can ad water to), Wellness, Chicken Soup, Blue Buffalo, Solid Gold, and so on. Scinece Diet has a lot of fillers like wheat and corn...

How can I eat healthy without eating pieces of fruit and vegetable?
Q. I have a little problem. Well, actually a pretty big one. To be healthy you should eat 3-6 pieces of fruit and vegetables. But I just can't eat it that way without nearly vomiting. I do however like soup and orange juice and everything which contains no pieces. Problem is, I only eat soup once or twice a week and orange juice can't replace my daily need. What can I do to eat more healthy? Does frozen soup contain all the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that fresh soup does? That might be a solution.

A. In general you won't be using more than two or three mics at a time, so I would get a four track mixer. This gives you the best control over each mic, including a bit of reverb, level, etc. I tend to only use two mics at one time, so this works perfectly for me. The L + R sends from the mixer need to go somewhere, so you have two options... either a good sound card, or a USB / Firewire interface. If your computer can support USB 2.0 or Firewire, this is essentially the way to go. Get an interface (or sound card) that can take two inputs, or a stereo line in, which is basically the same thing, although you'll have to set your software to record the L to one track and the R to another. Ideally, being able to record at 48khz at 24 bits is… [cont.]

How to track many pieces of information in a searchable database?
Q. I need to track many discrete pieces of information in a searchable manner. These could be web addresses, quotes, reference sources, etc.I would prefer if it would integrate with Google desktop, but some lightweight software that allowed some sort of hot key entering and searching would be ideal. Is there some software out there that would accomplish this task?
