A. The lowest grade of housemaid would receive maybe 10 (a year - 4 shillings per week), while a farm labourer received 12 - 14 shillings per week, and a skilled workman 28 shillings - 2 per week. Middle-class Victorians had an income of from 300 - 1000 per year. The upper classes had an income of from 1000 - 10,000 per year, though of course there were some exceptions - the Duke of Bedford got 500,000 per year. Note that the upper classes received their income from rents and investments and such.
